Juvenile Defense: Youth Delinquencies
A child in trouble with the court system needs extra special protection from the power of the state when he or she is charged with an offense, which if committed by an adult, would be a felony or misdemeanor crime. Once an adult, the Oregon sentencing laws allow prior juvenile adjudications to be factors in sentencing enhancements. It is easy for a child to roll over and accept a felony adjudication and be placed on a child's probation, without understanding the long term consequences to the child's permanent record. In the juvenile courts, the court sometimes authorizes alternative dispositions such as diversion programs or formal accountability agreements to resolve pending charges. At Case & Dusterhoff, LLP we understand and appreciate the long term effects such a mark can have, and do our best to protect the child from immediate exposure as well as long term future problems.
At Case & Dusterhoff, LLP these cases are handled by Benjamin O. Falk. Ben also provides a free, confidential half-hour consultation with any child that may be in trouble with the law. Parents are welcome and encouraged, but not required, to attend this appointment with their child.
